Standing Committee of the National Assembly on Ports and Shipping led by its Chairman Rana Mahmood ul Hasan including Ms Fauzia Wahab, Syed Nasir Ali Shah, Khwaja Sohail Mansoor and Sardar Mansab Ali Dogar visited Head Office, Karachi Port Trust. On the occasion, a briefing was given by KPT’s General Manager Civil Works and Estates, Pervez Younsi to the NA body, said a statement issued here.
The briefing included a comprehensive background on the issue of KPT’s jurisdiction and extension of limits as authorized by the Government from time to time. It was informed that KPT’s land was subject to encroachment and a total of 780 acres was encroached by various unauthorized parties and colonies. It was agreed that KPT’s land constituted government property and needed to be protected effectively as it was essentially needed for future projects of the port. The meeting was attended by IG Sindh Police and CCPO and members of the Sindh Board of Revenue.
