ACEP secretariat established in Karachi

The first-ever secretariat of the Association of Consulting Engineers Pakistan (ACEP) was inaugurated by Engr Jawaid Salim Qureshi, Chairman, Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) while Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister, Engr Ashfaq Memon, and Engr Najeeb Haroon, MNA, were the guests of honour on the occasion.

The objective behind the establishment of the ACEP in Karachi was to highlight the role of this body of consulting engineers in national development. 

Speaking on the occasion, Engr Javed congratulated the ACEP for having established its own secretariat to help coordinate its activities on national level. 

He held out his firm assurance to engineers to protect their due rights besides other related matters like sales tax, foreign consultancy, positioning of non-engineers on engineer's posts and status of diploma engineers. 

The PEC Chairman informed about the changes he had initiated during his tenure and how the Council had been transformed into a vibrant, friendly and one-window operation service for engineers. 

He declared that the PEC planned to start an engineers’ bank for the welfare of engineering fraternity. Engr Ashfaq also commended the ACEP and committed his full support for resolving the issues of consultant engineers with the Sindh government. 

Engr Najeeb Haroon, MNA, advised all the consultants to come forward, sit together to work for the betterment of engineers’ community. 

Earlier Engr Siddiq Essa welcomed the guests and presented a brief on the history of the ACEP while Engr Ch Ghulam Hussain, ex-President ACEP, highlighted the role of the body in national development. 

On the occasion, Engr Khalid Pervez briefed about upcoming the ACEP Conference and CPD programmes.

Engineers’ body felicitates Sindh Chief Minister

The Association of Consulting Engineers Pakistan (ACEP), a representative body of consulting engineers, which also represents the country at international level as being a member of International Federation of National Association of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC), has extended its profound felicitations to Engr Syed Murad Ali Shah for having taken over the office of Chief Minister of Sindh. 

In a letter of felicitation, the ACEP said that it’s a matter of pride for all of us, structural engineers in particular, that he, being a from engineers' community, an NEDIAN, having done Masters in Structural Engineering, has been inducted into the coveted office of Chief Minister of the province of Sindh. 

"We firmly believe that you being an NEDIAN will fully demonstrate your capabilities and exploit the Allah-given opportunity to serve Sindh and its people". 

The ACEP wished him a successful tenure hoping that his dynamic personality and the ability of working hard will surely steer him to higher positions in his political career. 

The ACEP prayed that may Allah shower His blessings upon him and give him the courage to serve the down trodden people with all determination at his command in general and the engineering community in particular. 

In its letter to the Chief Minister, the ACEP pointed out that it has some suggestions for the betterment of engineering community and hoped that he will take some time out from his busy schedule for a meeting with the Association's delegation comprising the senior consulting engineers. 

The ACEP extended its full technical support to Engr Murad Ali Shah in the development sector keeping the welfare of people of Sindh in view.

ACEP election results announced

The Association of Consulting Engineers Pakistan (ACEP) has announced the results of the elections for 2014-15 whereby Engr Chaudhary Ghulam Hussain and Engr Muhammad Siddiq Essa have been declared elected unopposed unopposed as the President and the Vice President respectively. 

An ACEP announcement said that all the other office-bearers and members of the Executive Council were also elected unopposed.

According to the ACEP results, Engr Mohammed Shafiq was elected as Honorary Secretary Engr Arif Kasam as Honorary Treasurer.

Meanwhile, Engr Khawaja Moinuddin and Engr Abrar Ahmed were elected Council Member Multi-Discipline, Engr Dr Shuaib Ahmed, Engr Nazar Siddiq and Engr Aziz Ahmed as Council Member Civil Discipline, Engr Safwan Ali as Council Member Electrical Discipline and Engr Raisuddin Siddiqui as Council Member of other Discipline.
