A week-long international celebration of space and atmospheric
sciences has begun with hundreds of events in dozens of countries around the
world to highlight the ways and means by which humanity’s space activities make
daily life better for on the planet of earth.
To mark the occasion, the Sir Syed University of Engineering
& Technology (SSUET), Karachi, in collaboration with the University of
Karachi, will be organizing a day long National Conference on Space
Sciences at its campus on October 9 at the campus.
The objective of the World Space Week is to educate people
around the globe about the benefits of space flight and exploration and
encourage greater use of space for sustainable economic development.
The theme for the Space Week is ‘Space for Human Safety and
Security’ and the United Nations (UN) had instituted the World Space
Week in 1999 and the event was first held a year later.
The initiative of the SSUET will be greatly helpful in
spreading awareness about the subject among the educated youth of the country.
